Data Quality

Member CW2692 of the Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP).

The positioning and calibration of the weather station sensors has been carefully considered to maximize accuracy of the readings. We use CWOP to help make sure our data is accurate.

The following is data reported to CWOP for BemidjiWx.com (CW2692 in blue) with the predicted data based on surrounding stations (CW2692 Analysis in red). Also included is the reported data for the National Weather Service meteorological station at Bemidji Regional Airport (KBJI in purple). Bemidji Regional Airport is the weather most often quoted by news and Internet sources for the Bemidji area. It is about 11.4 statute miles from BemidjiWx.com.

RAIN FALL
Terms such as "slight chance" of rain (10-20%), "chance" of rain (30-50%) or rain "likely" (60-70%) are used when there is uncertainty of receiving measurable precipitation anywhere in the forecast area. For instance, if there is only a 30-50 percent chance that rain will fall anywhere in the Bemidji area, then the forecast will call for a "chance" of rain.
